I have also set up a new photography space, in preparation for products and have a new phone that should greatly improve my skills 😆

There were many factors to consider when deciding how we package our new products.

1. Our aesthetic preferences (we want them to look amazing)

2. The minimal planet energy usage to create and eventually reuse the containers

3. How to give you the best visibility of the package contents as a cool feature of them is their unique colours.

The benefits of Sugaring to your skin is the basis for our existence.

We want you to know Sugaring is an option, for you to LOVE seeing them in the shops you buy from, buying them, using them and for them to improve your lives

There are basic things to think about like practicality, cost, carbon footprint, recyclability

I personally wanted Sugar Paste to be available in refillable plastic containers, made from Previously Consumer Recycled (PCR) You would buy one outer container and then refillable pods to pop inside the outer. The pods would be home recyclable, smaller to ship and less plastic to recycle.

They can be manufactured in China, in large quantites and shipped across the world but the carbon footprint contradicts the point of manufacturing in the UK.

The compromise is PCR plastic, manufactured closer to home, that is fully recyclable at home.

I am going to be telling all of you to be keeping hold of your pumps and sprays and to transfer them to your next bottle, which will be delivered with a simple screw cap. It all helps in our fight against unnecessary waste.

What's most important to you, It's Sugar!'s price or recyclability?

We have faced a battle finding a UK manufacturer who is on the same page as us environmentally, who doesn't demand crazy high Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ), who is creative and who's passion matches our own but we have ACHIEVED IT!

We will be producing several exfoliating body scrubs, in the future to accompany our Sugar Paste, in cool colours and scents. We might even develop an unscented version for all of you who have super-sensitive skin!

If you only have a basic skincare routine (like I always have) make sure exfoliation is part of it. Your skin needs that helping hand to buff away dead cells and let healthy live skin visible.

Sugaring & exfoliation go hand in hand. The sugar paste gentle removes the dead skin cells whilst removing the hair, a great 2 in 1. Exfoliation is needed though frequently to help unblock pores, remove the dead skin layer and ensure those new hairs don't get trapped and ingrown.

You will all have different needs when it comes to a body scrub. Some of you lucky ones will only need to do it once a week, other will need to do it more frequently. Amelie and I have very similar skin but also very different. The colour of our skin and the ability to get a suntan is the same but I have 40 year old skin, that has only ever been shaven everyday until 2 years ago so it is rougher and thicker. The hairs are now far weaker and less dense in texture and colour so pushing through the skin is hard work. Amelie has only 13 year old skin and has taken brilliantly to Sugaring. One day she might actually be virtually hair free 🥳

We decided to research the current body scrubs available, as texture is very important. Personally we both found that a smooth creamy texture provides great moisturisation but no exfoliation. Sea salt scrubs are too abrasive, personally. Sugar scrubs have the right amount of texture but they still vary a lot in particle size and battling ingrown hairs is a priority.

It has taken a while and we have considered and dismissed many brand names but It's Sugar! just works, we think! It's simple to remember, it tells it as it is and we will have a whole range of products, eventually, that are sugar based.
